Photo Diary – February 2015
February isn’t my favorite month of the year because of the cold weather and less assignments, but to be honest, this month was great! I did some cool photo shoots in the studio and on location, I had my first intern for one week and I went to Amsterdam quite often for exciting meetings.
The first day of the month started with a lookbook shoot for fashion designer Milou van Esch. I worked before with with make-up artist Peter Dwars and Milou to shot her graduation collection in June, but this time she made new designs to sell! The model was the funny and sweet Sarah @ Elvis Models and we had a great day! It was the first time that I worked with my new Profoto Umbrella Deep Silver L and I’m very happy with this new light shaping tool! The other shoot got published this month in a book called ‘Fontanel Finals ’14’.
Together with stylist Isabelle Kwantes and make-up artist Iris Zuidema we created a new editorial with two beautiful models from VDM Models. We used a white and a red background to give the story a strong contrast. You can see the editorial at my website.
Once in a while I receive emails from young photography students who would like to be my intern for a few months. It’s very nice to read those emails and I think it’s a compliment, but unfortunately I’m not able to hire an intern at the moment. But this time, Noa, a 16 year old girl who loves photography, contacted me about an internship for just one week and I decided to go for it! We started the week with still life photography, we went outside on a sunny day to make some close-up shots and talked about photography and Photoshop. She also joined me on a photo shoot at a tropical location. At the end of the week she gave me flowers and chocolate, so sweet!
After many studio shoots it was time to capture a new story on a cool location again. I worked with stylist Nienke van Duinkerken and make-up artist Romina Mazzitelli and the beautiful model Tessa @ Touche Model Management. Also my intern Noa joined us. It was a lovely day and I can’t wait to show you the pictures!
I love the ‘golden hour’ right before sunset. While walking with my boyfriend I saw these different colours and layers and I had to capture it.
I had a good meeting at the ELLE HQ in Amsterdam! Soon more.
This is the little part of my room I like the most and I change it every month with new flowers or a new way to store (a very little part) of my make-up.
I couldn’t resist buying this cute sweater at Zara :)
Together with stylist Lotte Bouws I organized a spontaneous black and white shoot. We worked with a nice team and created a sunday loft feeling.
You can see my picture in Gup Magazine #44 at the Olympus X GUP advertorial!
Did I already tell you about my fashion magazine addiction?
The end of this month ended with 2 lovely days in Amsterdam. The first day I had a meeting with Fashiolista (more soon), I visited the very new Topshop and I had my goodbye drink at the Chapter Friday HQ with all the sweet girls! It was good to see everyone and I got spoiled with presents :)
The next day I woke up early in a hotel near Artis and it was time for a big photo shoot for Social & Personal Magazine (Ireland). Clayton Coleo, a talented stylist from New York asked me for this assessment and together with his assistent Kiki, make-up artist Eldridge Mullenhof en model Alicia from Micha Models we created a denim story in the studio. It was a nice and productive day!

I love your photography! The slightly muted colors paired with the high contrast just make me swoon.
