Editorial / She Who Dares, Wins
A couple of weeks ago I did a shoot for Domino Vugt’s graduation collection from the art academy in Maastricht. I’ve worked with Domino before and once again I was not disappointed. This collection is so beautifully executed!
Domino Vugts expresses how women can show off their curves without losing their dignity. She was inspired by the tight curves of a Formula 1 racing track. Apart from the opposing values in his project, Vugts also uses contrasting materials during his shows: she mixes materials that are both soft and hard, smooth and rough or glossy and frosted. Vugts believes we should question the gender stereotypes found in sports, such as the presumption that men should show heroic machoism and women should act sensual. Her new project ‘She who dares, wins’ encourages women to step out of their comfort zone and denounce gender stereotypes. (source: fashionweek.nl)
