Behind The Scenes – Fujifilm GFX 50s

Yesterday it was time to create another shoot! I wanted to try something new, so I rented a medium format camera; the Fujifilm GFX 50s. I decided to work with two lenses, the 32-64mm f/4.0 and the 110mm f/2.0. This was the perfect combination for fashion shoots like this.

Maybe you remember the shoots I did in Barcelona with stylist & friend Keely van Vliet, this time she was in Holland so we worked together again. The other part of the team was makeup artist Wout Phillippo and model Julie @ Touche Models. My boyfriend Eric van Vuuren joined us to capture a behind the scenes video that I will share on the homepage of my portfolio website soon.

Let’s go back to the camera. I was very impressed by the look and feel of the camera and lenses. It feels and looks very good and professional. It’s heavy, but it’s not a problem for fashion and portrait shoots. The LCD screen and the electronic viewfinder are super clean and sharp. It very easy to setup the shutter time and ISO because there are dials on top of the camera. You can set the aperture by using the ring on the lens. This camera was equipped with an extra grip and the viewfinder and I really can recommend both if you want to rent or buy this camera.

The Fujifilm GFX 50s has 50 megapixels and my RAW files where 116mb each. With good light it’s very easy to create sharp images, but if you want to shoot with back light or in lower light situations, the camera has some troubles with the auto focus. To be honest, that was the only thing where the camera disappointed me. I’m very happy with the results and I’m looking forward to edit these huge files. And.. next week I’m shooting with this camera again! Keep an eye on my Instagram (@liselottefleur) for more updates.

For now I can share you the behind the scenes images of our shoot.
