Behind The Scenes – 4 Natural Models

Today I captured four models all natural, no makeup, no styling (wearing their own clothes) and no artificial light (daylight only). In the morning I worked with the sweet girls Akke Marije and Anne Wytske @ Touche Models and we had a lot of fun. In the afternoon I worked with two young new faces – Nikki and Michaela @ IBTM – who did their second photoshoot with me, so it took some time to learn them how to pose. I hope they have learned a lot from our shoot!

“My on-going project about my fascination for perfection and imperfection. As a fashion photographer I’m always working with a creative team to capture a fashion story where everything has to be beautiful, the clothes, the makeup, the hair, the poses and we are almost striving to make a surreal image, on set with professional studio lighting and in Photoshop. That is something I loved about fashion photography, to create a new kind of world. But at the other side, I can’t get enough of capturing natural beauties. During my stay in Los Angeles and Milan I captured many professional models, without makeup in their own clothes, outside on location with daylight. This was something what inspired me a lot. A pure natural face, being herself in front of my camera without the possibility to ‘hide’ behind makeup or fashion styling. The rules: no make-up – no styling – no extreme retouch.”

        Hi Liselotte,
What camera is Lois using for these behind the scenes shots? All looks beautiful!

        Thanks,
        Hannah

Hi Hannah, I think she was using my Olympus OMD EM-1 Mark II here!

The shoots look great.. What is your preferred lens to shoot both in and outdoors? also do you shoot with a flash or are you only shooting natural light?

Hi Johnny, my favorite lens for both indoors and outdoors is probably the Canon 24-70mm f/2.8 if I need a zoom lens, but otherwise I would go for a 35 or 85mm f/1.4 because I love the sharpness!
