First Results Sigma ART 85mm f/1.4

During my shoots last week in Barcelona I’ve worked with just two primes: the Sigma ART 85mm f/1.4 and the Sigma ART 35mm f/1.4. On my full frame camera – the Canon 5D mark IV – makes it an amazing combination! I’ve been working with the 35mm for three years now you already know that I’m a big fan of this one, but today I would like to show you some first previews of my Barcelona portraits made with the 85mm! Most of them are made with an aperture from f/1.4 to f/2.8 because I was very curious to see the bokeh in the background. The AF (auto focus) is fast enough for the moving models and the sharpness is beautiful! Although the lens is quite heavy and big, I’m pretty sure this is my new favorite lens that I will probably use in all of my upcoming shoots!

This month I want to finish all the eight portrait shoots I did, so stay tuned! But first I have some other nice things to do. Today on Friday I’m going to the wedding of my niece, tomorrow I’m shooting a commercial fashion lookbook and this Sunday I’m going to Stockholm for 6 days! (no shoots this time). During my travels I never bring my heavy equipement that I use for my shoots, so in Sweden I’ll capture my adventures with the Olympus OMD EM1 Mark II + 25mm f/1.2 and 12-40mm f/2.8. I bought the 85mm art, I really love it even if yes a bit heavy but with the time you can use to use that lent. I have just a problem with that lent because with 85mm I can shoot How I want when I’m indoor ( there Isn’t enough space) so I’m thinking to sell it and buy the 35mm art.

Hey friend, i have the 35sigma 1.4, and it is a really good lens! If you like prime lenses i suggest you to buy the 35 for general use, and buy a 50 1.4 instead of 85 (for indoor use)
Of course you can take portraits with a 35, but you also have the -pretty- distortion from it.

        woooow, amazing photos!!

Did you have to adjust the lens calibration on them? How did you do that?

No I didn’t do any lens calibration (yet?!)

Wauw wauw wauw, prachtige foto’s <3. Ik kende deze lenzen nog helemaal niet, maar wat lijken ze me fijn werken. Heel mooi, het bokeh effect!
